A reminder that our series on Machine Learning will wrap up next week with a final presentation on “Deep Learning” on April 29. The meeting starts at 6:00pm at our usual location of FIT’s Evan’s Library in Room 204.

Have you been doing your homework? You were asked to create your own algorithm (set of rules) that can be followed to identify if a color image shows a dog or a cat. To do this, imagine you were explaining these two animals to aliens who have never seen them: how would you teach them to learn what is a dog and what is a cat, based solely on a 2-D pixelated image?

At the next meeting, we’ll talk about neural networks and how they approach the problem.
