How does one approach a, potentially large, company with an idea for a new product or significant improvement to one of their products in a way that both parties mutually benefit and profit from it?
… and so they can’t/don’t just “steal it for themselves”?

Do you have to get it patented first?

… and if so, then isn’t that difficult if it is still just an idea / in the conceptual stage?
