A Topic to Share and Discuss Your Predictions about which all jobs you believe will be replaced by automation and when?
March 14, 2015 at 6:26 am #1259Michael DeVriesKeymasterI predict that every job / task that for which it will be cost justifiable to automate away will be automated away as soon as it is cost justifiable to do so.
What do you think about this?

March 28, 2015 at 12:41 pm #1280Michael DeVriesKeymasterIMHO Walmart should replace human greeters with friendly humanoid robots, like Asimo => http://asimo.honda.com/
Why? …
1) Don’t you think that a child friendly robot would attract children and families to go to WalMart just to see the robot?
… and then buy more “stuff” while they are there 😉2) I believe that if mass produced, e.g. one for every WalMart store, may make them cheaper than paying a person <~$10 / hour + benefits to greet Walmart shoppers. What do you think about all of this?
April 4, 2015 at 8:38 pm #1291Michael DeVriesKeymasterAmazon Plans a Robot Picking Contest => http://bit.ly/1FtyTRW
Having previously worked on the automated inventory control systems for a major retailer, …
What they call eaches picking, which is picking less then a case quantity, is currently one of the only jobs in a warehouse that still required a human to perform, so …
When they (soon now) get a robot that can pick “eaches” as efficiently and effectively as a person does now, then I predict warehouses will be fully automated requiring no humans other than the people monitoring the automated systems.
